Obituary of George J. Kmeck

Kmeck, George J. 84, peacefully passed away at his home on Thursday, December 15, 2011. Mr. Kmeck was born in Jersey City and has been a resident of Lyndhurst for 50 years. Before his retirement, he was employed by Westinghouse Electric Elevator Division in Jersey City and by Titan Machine in Long Island City. His life was filled with music. For more than 40 years he was the Cantor and Choir Director at his parish, St. Mary�s Byzantine Catholic Church in Jersey City. George is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Helen (nee Chabin) Kmeck, by his three children, George Jr. & his wife Nora Mae, William & his wife Denise and Karen Ann Burke, by his grandchildren, Jamie Burke, Adam, Phoebe, Max and Dawn Kmeck and by his dear great grandson Kristopher and new baby boy soon to enter this world. He is also survived by his brothers, Joseph and Nicholas Kmeck and predeceased by Charles and John Kmeck. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral from Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst on Monday, December 19, 2011 at 8:30 AM then to St. Mary�s Byzantine Catholic Church, 231 Pacific Avenue, Jersey City where at 10 AM a Rite of Christian Burial will be held. Entombment Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington. Visiting Saturday 7-9 PM and Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Parastas Sunday 3 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mary�s Church in George�s memory would be greatly appreciated.
