Obituary of Ann Mandese

Mandese, Ann  (nee Marino), 97, of Lyndhurst, died on Wednesday, April 24, 2019.  Mrs. Mandese was born in Jersey City, lived in Union City for 27 years, and was a resident of Lyndhurst for the past 42 years. Ann was a devout Catholic and active member of the parishes where she lived.  Holy Rosary Church, Jersey City where she was a member of the Children of Mary Solarity and a Leader of the Girls Scouts and also active parishioner of  St. Joseph’s Church of Union City, where after earning the title, “survivor”, she also became a fundraiser and advocate for the American Cancer Society. Ann was a Poet and during the World War II, would submit poetry to the troops for comfort.  Her poetry was regularly published in the Jersey Journal’s Poet’s Corner.  She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 70 years, Joseph C. Mandese and survived by their loving children, Anthony Mandese and his wife, Sandra, Rose Ann Sverapa and her husband, Joseph, Josephine Aiello, and Bernadette and her husband, Robert.  She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and her sister in law, Madeline Mandese.  

 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass for Ann on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Sacred Heart Church, Lyndhurst. Mass begins at 10 AM.  Private interment to be held at a later date at Brigadier William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ.  In lieu of flowers, Ann's family requests donations be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 23 Vreeland Road, Suite 105, Florham Park, NJ 07932 or the American Cancer Society, 986 South Springfield Avenue, Springfield, NJ 07081
