Obituary of Gloria Damiani

Gloria Joy Damiani, nee Liva, a life-long resident of Lyndhurst NJ passed away on June 27th.  Gloria was born in 1924 to Joseph and Elvira Liva and lived her early life in East Rutherford.  Living through 76 years of the 20th century and 21 years of the 21st century, this member of ‘the greatest generation’ raised 5 children with the love of her life, Dominic James Damiani who passed away in 1985.  Gloria was an accomplished gardener, an activity that kept her physically fit into her nineties.  However, what she was truly famous for in her large extended family was her baking.  She wowed her family with sour dough breads, lemon merengue and cherry pies, angel food cake, and holiday stolen among many other delights.  She had a lifelong interest in books and could while away an afternoon in a library.  She passed the love of reading onto some of her children and grandchildren.  The force that was Gloria Joy Damiani is survived by her 4 daughters and daughter-in-law: Joann DiPasquale of Montville; Gloria LaPlaca of Lyndhurst; Ellen Sheldon of Bloomfield, Dana Damiani of Ringwood and Ruth Damiani of Lyndhurst.  Her eldest child, Nicholas Damiani, passed away in 2019.  Gloria’s legacy includes 16 grandchildren and many many great grandchildren, one of whom is set to marry in three weeks.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation held at Nazare Memorial Home Inc. 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 from 4 to 8 PM.  All will gather at the funeral home on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at 9 AM. Funeral Service begins 10 AM.  Interment to follow, Hillside Cemetery, Lyndhurst.  Please express condolences to Gloria's family by using our tribute wall.
