Obituary of Richard Gordon Olenhaus

Olenhaus, Richard Gordon, 62, of Lyndhurst, died on Thursday, August 19, 2021.  Mr. Olenhaus was born and raised in Jersey City and was a resident of Lyndhurst for the past 20 years.  Richard proudly served in the United States Navy from 1975 - 1978.  He then went on to work as a supervisor for XPO Logistics in Carlstadt for 15 years.  Richard loved fishing on his brother-in-law, Jim's, boat.  He was a loving husband and father, proud grandfather, and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.  Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Judith Olenhaus (nee Romanski) and their loving children, Richard Olenhaus, Jennifer Flaville and her husband, Sean, and Melissa Petrillo and her husband, Chris, by his cherished grandchildren, Richard, Kennedy, Molly, Emma, Charlie, and Abigail, by his dear brother and sister, Walter Olenhaus and his wife, Mary Lou and Karen Sharkey, and by many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his brother, Michael Olenhaus.  

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst, NJ on Monday, August 23, 2021 from 4 - 8 PM.  All will gather at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 24 at 9 AM then to St. Michael's Church, Lyndhurst where at 10 AM a funeral mass will be offered.  Private Cremation to follow.  In lieu of flowers, Richard's family requests donation be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or online by clicking here.
