Obituary of George Michael Machno

Machno, George Michael, 74, died at home on Monday, September 20, 2021.  Mr. Machno was born in Munich, Germany and immigrated to the U.S. as a child with his family and settled in Jersey City where he was raised.  Moving to North Arlington in the mid 60’s, where he has been a resident since.  George was an accountant, working for the Hudson County Jail System, where he was liked by all especially the inmates, because of his inclusive personality.  Uncle George loved his food and most people who knew him would say he had a ferocious appetite, which he balanced with his daily 5am workout regiment.  A member of the Polish American Citizens Association of Lyndhurst and would enjoy bus trips and church pilgrimages with Sacred Heart Church.  He loved his Macanudo Cigars, listening to music, going to concerts and entertainment of all types. 

George is predeceased by his parents, Michael and Bernice Machno and his brother, Henry Machno.  He is survived by his dear sister, Regina Wallace & her husband, Eugene, by his niece and nephews, Stephanie Wallace & her Fiancé, Michael, Ian Wallace, Eugene Wallace and his girlfriend, Esther, Justin and Jeffrey Machno, and his cousin, Marie. He will be missed by many friends and family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation held at Nazare Memorial Home, Inc. 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 from 9AM-10:30AM.  Then to Sacred Heart Church, where at 10:30AM a funeral Mass will be offered.  Interment to follow, Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.  Please express condolences to George’s family by using our tribute wall.
