Obituary of Peter H. Shellhamer

Shellhamer, Peter H., 59, of Oak Ridge, died on Tuesday, September 21, 2021.  Mr. Shellhamer was born in Passaic and lived most of his life in Lyndhurst.  He was a resident of Oak Ridge for the past 9 years.  Peter dedicated 29 years of service to the Lyndhurst Police Department where he eventually became Police Captain before retiring in 2014.  He also selflessly worked as a volunteer fireman for the Lyndhurst Fire Department, Engine Co. #3, Hill Company.  He was an outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and hunting during his retirement.  Peter is survived by his beloved wife of 17 years, Tami R. Shellhamer (nee Anzelmo), by his loving children, Joelle, Stefanie, Jake, and Abigail Shellhamer, by his dear brother, Louis Baroody and his wife, Maureen, by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gary and Ruth Anzelmo, and by his nieces and nephews.  

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst, NJ on Friday, September 24, 2021 from 4 - 8 PM.  All will gather at the funeral home on Saturday, September 25 at 10:30 AM where a funeral service will begin at 11:30 AM.  Interment, Hillside Cemetery, Lyndhurst.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Peter's memory to the Lyndhurst PBA Local 202 Civic Association, PO Box 202, Lyndhurst, NJ.  This donation will be put towards the Police Unity Tour Chapter 1, ultimately supporting the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, which assists families of fallen officers.
