Obituary of Gerd M. Meyer

Meyer, Gerd M., 77, of Lyndhurst, died on Wednesday, December 8, 2021.  Mr. Meyer was born in Meissen, Germany and came to the states with his family at the age of 8 to Weehawken.  He was raised in Jersey City where he met his future wife, Teresa Chyzak.  He served in the National Guard for 6 years during the Vietnam War 1965-1971 and in 1974, they moved to Lyndhurst where he has lived since.  Gerd is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Teresa (nee Chyzak) and his loving children, Laura Meyer and Michael Meyer & his wife, Amanda, and his dear grandson, Weston.  Gerd is also survived by his sister, Erika Tretner & her husband, Peter.  

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst, NJ on Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 2 - 6 PM.  A funeral service will begin at 5:30.  Cremation will be private.  Please omit flowers and make a donation in Gerd's memory to The Shrine's Hospital @ donate.lovetotherescue.org/give.  You may express your condolences to his family by using our tribute wall.
