Obituary of Bart McLaughlin
Bart McLaughlin 84, of Lyndhurst passed to his Heavenly home and was surrounded by the love and care of his beautiful wife and his children who adored him on Thursday, September 15, 2022.
Bart was born in Newark, NJ to Bart and Helena “Lee” (Frawley) McLaughlin. He has been a resident of Lyndhurst and made it his and his family’s home for over 55 years.
By trade, Bart was a plumber and master pipe fitter. He was a member of the Pipefitters Local 274 in New Brunswick. He always desired to learn more about his trade and attended Rutgers University and Kean College to continue his education.
Bart’s heart was always devoted to his family and considered a gentle giant, sharing his talents and skills to his family and community. He was sure to make himself available to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
He was an avid outdoorsman and shared his love of fishing, boating, and riding his motorcycle with his family. He made sure summers were surrounded with fun in the ocean, sand, beach house and BBQ’s every weekend.
Bart married the love of his life, Rosemary Reid on July 5, 1958 in Rutherford, NJ and have shared 64 years of marriage together. Throughout their 64 years together one of their many loves was their annual motorcycle run to Americade in Lake George, NY, along with many other road trips near and far.
He is survived by his wife Rosemary McLaughlin (née Reid), and their children, Donna Lee McLaughlin-Noonan and her husband, Jim, Bart John McLaughlin, Jane Anne McLaughlin, Kimberly Whisman and her husband, Scott, Mary Ellen Sverko and her husband Marcus, Christopher McLaughlin, and Rosemary McLaughlin-Gizzo and her husband James, by his sister Barbara Dummar, and his brother John “Jack” McLaughin, and many nieces and nephews. Bart has left a long legacy with loving his 28 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and his loyal companion Blue.
He is preceded in death is by his daughter-in-law LuAnn Olivari-McLaughin who shared a love of football together, his brother Arthur “Butch” McLaughlin who shared a love of fishing, boating, and motorcycles.
When you spent time with Bart, you knew you were heard and loved. He shared all his wisdom with those in need and was always a source of strength and comfort in times of trouble. He was reliable and when you left his presence you knew you were equipped to face what you needed to because of the wisdom he shared.
Once you met Bart, you were never the same.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Nazare-Memorial Home, Inc. 403 Ridge Road. Lyndhurst NJ on Monday September 19, 2022 from 4-8 pm. All will gather at the funeral home on Tuesday September 20 at 9:30 am. A funeral service will begin at 10:30 am. Intermittent, Hillside Cemetery, Lyndhurst NJ.
