Obituary of Concetta Gowe
Gowe, Concetta (nee Caruso), 91, of Lyndhurst, died on Saturday, February 11, 2023. Mrs. Gowe was born and raised in East Harlem, NY and has been a resident of Lyndhurst for 63 years. Connie worked as a secretary for the Army on Governor's Island where she met her husband, Fred Gowe. Upon getting married, she moved to Lyndhurst where was a homemaker, raising her family. She was a very faithful Catholic and devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church where she was a member of the Rosary Society, Social Concerns Committee, helped work the Bingo nights, and received the honor of Woman of the Year. Outside of church, Concetta was a diehard Mets fan and enjoyed going to the casino. Her pride and joy was her grandchildren, as she would never miss one of their sports games. Connie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Fred J. Gowe in 1997 and by her dear brother and sister, Vincent Bifano and Gilda Perri. She is survived by her loving children, Judi Bagnato (Robert), Jane Gowe, Diana Kolek (Bill), Christine Leonardi (Daniel), and James Gowe (Patty Skeahan), by her cherished grandchildren, Joseph and Gianna Leonardi, and by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst, NJ on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 from 3 - 7 PM. All will gather at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 15 at 9 AM then to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Lyndhurst where at 10 AM a funeral mass will be offered. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Connie's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
