Obituary of Elizabeth J. Carbone

Carbone,  Elizabeth “Betty” (nee Kicyla), 79, of Jersey City, died on Friday, August 4, 2023.  

Elizabeth was born and raised in Jersey City and has been a lifelong resident. Elizabeth was a bank vault attendant for Capital One, formerly The Trust Company of N.J, in Jersey City, for many years before retiring.  Betty was devoted to her Catholic faith, attending 7am daily mass and shared her generous loving spirit with all people that she came into contact with, helping neighbors, customers at the bank, and strangers. “Grandma Betty” adored her grandchildren, thinking nothing of getting down on the floor to play with them.  For the past fifteen years, Alzheimer’s disease had dimmed the light in her eyes and voice. Betty’s family has surrounded her with love and care and she will be deeply missed. 

Elizabeth is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Edward J Carbone, Jr., by her loving children, Claudine Sallustio and her husband, Anthony, Monique Wiatrak and her husband, Christopher and Craig J. Carbone and his wife, Carmelina, by her cherished grandchildren, Jillian, Emily and Anthony Sallustio, Christian and Luke Wiatrak and Serafina and Serena Carbone, by her dear sister, Rosanne Mandragona and her late husband, James,  her devoted caretaker and friend, Gladys Rivera.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation held at Nazare Memorial Home, Inc. on Friday, August 11, 2023 from 9-10:30 AM followed by an 11:00 AM funeral mass at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, North Arlington. Entombment will be at Holy Cross Mausoleum, North Arlington. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Elizabeth’s memory be made to the Alzheimer's Association, alz.org.
