Paul,
You and I aren’t so different you know. That’s why I believe it was easier for me to forgive and forget because one bruised soul recognizes another. Your hard exterior may have fooled many people but not me. I knew on the inside you were soft, and deep down you wanted the same thing I did, love & understanding. To this day, I don’t even know your whole story but because I saw you for who you really were, I knew you were someone who was often misunderstood, misjudged, and often looked at as more firm as I am also.
Lately I’ve been thinking about how the future would have looked like. I can picture us going to concerts together with mom, weekend trips to the beach in the summer, and enjoying the warm sun on our faces on the porch talking about life while eating Italian ices. We may no longer have that opportunity right now but being the spiritual person I am, I believe one day we will have that time. I believe one day we will embrace in such a way where everything that once was, is now better.
It may have only been a few short weeks, but in those weeks, I saw your soul and all the love you had to offer. You told me you loved me and and I told you I loved you and in that moment you were my father and blood didn’t matter.
Thank you Paul for showing me your heart and baring your soul. It was an honor to have you in my life and an even bigger honor to hold your hand as you left this demention for a better one. I hope you know we will be okay although a piece of our hearts missing. until we meet again, thank you for being another father to me.
Love always,
Kaitlynn
