Obituary of John J. Scardino, Sr.
John J. Scardino, Sr., 90, of Lyndhurst, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024 surrounded by his family. Mr. Scardino was born in Hoboken and has been a resident of Lyndhurst for over 75 years. He began working alongside his family in their business, Star Coat Manufactoring of Hoboken. John later began his own business, Style VI Ltd. in Manhattan and Newark, NJ in 1984 until 1991 when he retired.
John was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Mary Scardino, by his wife, Lucy Ann "Lulu" Scardino and by his brothers and sister, Tommy Scardino, Sr., Lena DeLorenzo and Frankie Scardino. He is survived by his wife, MaryAnn Scardino, by his children. Rosemary Scardino, Johna Arena & her husband, Anthony, Lucy Ann DeGrazio & her husband, Peter, John J. "Gio" Scardino & his wife, Michelle, and Anthony Scardino, by his grandchildren, Candace Hulse, Anthony Arena, Jr., Allie Villa, Toni Ann, Peter, Lucy Ann "Lulu," and Johnny "JD" DeGrazio, and Jason, Gianna and Jacqueline Scardino and by his great grandchildren, Ivy, Luca and Giovanni. Also survived by his brothers and sisters, Anthony Scardino, Jr., Sadie DuBois, Cosmo Scardino, Frances Pereira, Jenny Alongi and Frank Scardino, by his sister-in-law, Roe LaPollo, by many nieces, nephews, by his "son," Angel Reytor and by his beloved "Sonny."
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass on Friday, April 19, 2024 at Sacred Heart Church, Lyndhurst beginning 1 PM. Entombment, Hillside Cemetery, Lyndhurst. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made, in John's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or by clicking here. .
