DiLascio, John A., 83, died on Friday, March 29, 2013. Mr. DiLascio was born in Newark and has been a resident of Lyndhurst for most of his life. John was a building contractor, master carpenter, licensed Construction Official and a real estate broker. Together with his brother Angelo, they built homes under their company name, �3-D Building Corporation.� John DiLascio served as Commissioner of Revenue and Finance for the Township of Lyndhurst from 1982 � 1983 and again from 1985 � 1989. John was also appointed by the NJ State Senate as a member of the Bergen County Board of Taxation, serving in the 1990�s. Known for his straight talk and no nonsense style Editor of the Lyndhurst Advocate, a newsletter he wrote and printed throughout the 1990�s and early 2000�s, John DiLascio was never afraid to put his himself at the forefront of any issue facing his hometown. John�s passion was his family, but he was also deeply committed to helping the children of Lyndhurst. Spending a great deal of time volunteering his skills as a planner, developer and carpenter with projects such as the Lyndhurst High School football field, field house, the track, Booster Club concession stand, Matera Field, and so much more. As a major sponsor of youth sports, the 3-D Building Corporation logo could be found on a host of sports shirts, signs and ad journals. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, a member of the Lyndhurst Elks Club, Kiwanis, Knights of Columbus, Lyndhurst Education Fund, UNICO and the Italian American Club of Lyndhurst. John is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Rita A. (nee Guidetti) DiLascio, by his loving children, John DiLascio & his wife, Kathie (Hill) and Richard DiLascio & his wife, Kathleen (Puzio), by his dear grandchildren, Kristie, John and Tracey DiLascio and Kimberly Darling & her husband, Brian, by his brothers and sisters, Angelo DiLascio, Ann Carucci, Dr. James P. DiLascio and by the late Bella Christiana and Anthony DiLascio. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral from the Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 9 AM then to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Lyndhurst where at 10AM a Funeral Mass will be offered. Entombment Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington. Visiting hours Monday 2-4 & 7-9PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to The Lyndhurst Education Fund, 30 Park Avenue, Lyndhurst, NJ 07071.
