Obituary of Patrick Carr

Carr, Patrick Joseph 90, died on Tuesday, February 16, 2021. Mr. Carr was born and raised in Newark, NJ and moved to Lyndhurst, NJ in 1963, where he lived ever since. He entered the Marine Corps at 17 and served during the Korean Conflict from 1947 to 1951. After his return, he began his career in law enforcement, first with the Newark Police Department then moving to the Essex County Sheriff’s Department in 1967. After a short retirement he became Chief Investigator for Citizen Services for several years.  Patrick is predeceased by his beloved wife of 52 years Bette (née Maroni) Carr in 2015 and his son, Patrick in 2018. He is survived by his loving daughter, Carolyn Byrne and her husband, Peter, by his grandsons, Conor Byrne and Quintez Carr-Zamir with his son’s partner Shay Zamir, his sister MaryAnn D’Angelo, brothers Bernard Carr, sister-in-law Diana, brother Philip Carr and by many nieces and nephews. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation held at the Nazare Memorial Home, Inc 403 Ridge Road on Sunday, February 21, 2021 from 2 - 6PM.  All will gather at the funeral home on Monday, February 22, 2021 at 9AM then to Sacred Heart Church, Lyndhurst where at 10AM a funeral mass will be offered.  Private Cremation.  In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Patrick’s memory to the Community Food Bank of New Jersey by visiting www.cfbnj.org.  To express condolences, click on the tribute wall.
