Obituary of Irmgard E. Tylenda

Tylenda, Irmgard Edith, "Irma" (nee Merz), 90, of Lyndhurst, died on Monday, July 10, 2023.  

Mrs. Tylenda was born in Amsterdam, Holland, and raised in Frankfurt, Germany.

Irma married Stanley J. Tylenda in 1954 in Germany before immigrating to Jersey City.  Irma and her husband lived most of their lives in North Arlington. 

Irmgard was the beloved wife of 41 years to the late Stanley Tylenda and the loving mother of Steven Tylenda & his fiancee, Patricia Vilardo, Mark Tylenda, the late Edmond Tylenda, the late Richard Tylenda, Michelle Driscoll & her husband, John, and Donna Tylenda.

She was also the cherished grandmother of the late Karly Ann & baby Steven Connor Tylenda.

Irma was the dear sister of Margot Hilkert, Egon Merz and his late wife, Elisabeth, the late Hella Merz, Waltraud Wagner and her husband, Kurt, & Berthold Merz and his wife, Irene. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. 

Irma was a beautiful, gentle soul who touched many people throughout her life.   She was always caring for and helping others by bringing joy and love to everyone she met.

Irma worked as a Rectory Cook for the priests of Queen of Peace Church in North Arlington for many years.  Her kind & generous spirit will be missed by all she knew. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst, NJ on Friday, July 14, 2023 from 4 - 8 PM.  All will gather at the funeral home on Saturday, July 15 at 8:45 AM then to Queen of Peace Church, North Arlington where at 9:45 AM a funeral mass will be offered.  Entombment, Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington.  Irma had a devotion to St. Jude.  Please consider making a donation in her memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital by clicking here.
